Initial Beginnings
Pine Rivers initially opened in 1964 under the leadership of William Leslie Kemp with an enrolment of 279 students. We have had an additional 7 principals in the 52 years since.  The signature events and traditions of the school include:

School Song

1964 to 1978

(To the tune *The Caissons Go Rolling Along")
See our colours, gold and green,
Which are proudly to be seen.
While they're striving and striving for us,
It's fair play everyday,
While our teachers have their say,
So come join us,
And sing the Chorus.
(Chorus)
It's Pine Rivers High,
Praise it to the sky,
See the results of our endeavour
And where'er we go
We shall always know,
That our school spirit's with us forever.

1979 to the present

(Lyrics by Keith Roxborough)
Pine Rivers High School we are proud to acclaim
Pine Rivers High School is our name
When things wrong
We shall stay strong
Pride in our name is the goal before us
We shall succeed
In every deed
High will we hold our heads as life enfolds us
Pine Rivers High School we are proud to acclaim
Pine Rivers High School is our name

Walkathon

Throughout our school's history, the walkathon has stood as a prominent tradition and vital fundraiser. This engaging event blends athleticism and community spirit, with students journeying from our campus to Pine Rivers Park, Strathpine. While participation is voluntary, our students enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to dress according to a chosen theme. Over the years, themes have ranged from whimsical to contemporary, including the likes of "Mad Hatter's Derby Day," "Sparrow Invades Neverland," and even nods to internet culture with "favorite meme." Recent years have seen themes like "Heroes and Villains," Disney classics, and "Myths and Legends" captivate our participants. Most recently, we celebrated aspirations with the theme "When I Grow Up," encouraging our school community to don outfits reflecting their childhood dream careers. This event not only fosters camaraderie but also leaves an indelible mark on our school's rich history.
