Through the federally funded
National Secondary Schools Computer Fund (NSSCF) schools across Australia have been supported in embedding technological skills and communication across the curriculum. With the completion of funding associated with this project, The Department of
Education, and Training in Queensland is supporting a Bring Your Own
Device (BYOD) model for Queensland schools.
This means that students will own,
control and have personal responsibility for the computer that they use at
school and at home. To provide the best access to available resources, and
to harness the greatest potential for learning Pine Rivers, requires devices bought
to school for our BYOD program to meet minimum a set of specifications.
Rivers will provide necessary school owned curriculum resources, printing and
internet connection for use on campus. Additional resources to support learning
outside of school such as software resources, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and
access to school curriculum via the internet are also provided.
In 2017 all students are expected to provide a personal device. Please use the following materials to support your decisions around devices.
A comprehensive suite of tools to help students with their BYOD devices can be found at:

Pine Rivers SHS harnesses the power of Learning Place and continuing our offering of 24/7 curriculum availability. We also commenced participation in the Microsoft IT Academy enabling our students to access learning and certification of highly sought after technical competencies.
The school funds 2 school based technicians and school based trainees to ensure the staff and students are supported with their ICT needs and the network and equipment are maintained to a high standard. The backbone of our network comprises several high grade servers including a dedicated media server for our library, fibre connections between every block and high density wireless across the school. This ensures students have access to a quality working environment at all times.
